Khao Lak is Phuket's sleepier, prettier & quieter sister. This is where you would head for some serious r&r with some seaside sunsets on the side.
We stayed at Casa de la flora, one of the best new hotels in the area, as voted by Conde Nast Traveller's Hot List 2012. Located on the beautiful, palm-fringed beach of Khao Lak, just one-hour drive, by car from Phuket International Airport. This ultimate design resort with stunning Andaman views as well as its friendly service warmly welcome visitors from across the globe. Casa de la flora is also the winner from Travelers’ Choice 2013 and Asia Pacific Hotel Awards 2013.
One of the first and only modernist resorts in Khao Lak, it presents cutting-edge architecture and unique design amid tropical nature. Its definitely romantic, and 100% luxury! But, it is also child friendly and in fact the locals and the resort staff absolutely loved our little one.
We were visiting to celebrate my birthday, and it was our first family holiday together with our third wheel, 8 month old Ryder. The staff made every effort to help out with Ryder which was wonderful & they even rocked up at our door on my birthday with a crew & cake in tow to sing me happy birthday - much to my pleasant surprise!
During our visit we feasted on traditional Thai, frequented the iced coffee street cart, sunbathed by the sea, ate breakfast by the sea, drank cocktails by the sea and frolicked in our private pool while our son napped on the 3rd level of our sun drenched, breezy apartment. At the end of the day we bathed in our own private Jacuzzi which probably could have fit 8 people! We also island hoped by way of a luxury speed boat, which we organised through Casa de la flora & we were provided and entourage to go with! 2 babysitters, 2 tour guides, a driver & a body guard. Just a normal day in Thailand right?
