So with that in mind, we decided on a premium economy flight (bigger seats, more room, a baby bassinet!) with our first stop being Singapore.
I might quickly add that our 7 hour flight was preceeded by a 7 hour delay! YES - 7 HOUR DELAY. So all the planning that went into finding a flight that fit in with our bubs awake-feed-sleep schedule went straight out the window! However, our son was a true aviation angel - born to fly I like to think. He was happy the entire delay and slept for around 6 hours of the 7 hour flight! We arrived at midnight so we had to wake him and he greeted everyone on board & in customs with big cheeky smiles. Needless to say we were very happy and proud parents but I have a sneaky suspicion the other passengers and crew were even happier than us!
So why Singapore?
One. We had never been to Singapore. Two. it was only a 7 hour flight. Three. Who doesn't like Singapore Laksa? Four. The beaches of Thailand are just a short flight away (our next destination).
I love a good boutique hotel, but a hotel with rain sensors, natural sky gardens, and a fresh perspective on urban hospitality followed by a range of innovative sustainability features sounded pretty good too.
And, Singapore's first eco friendly hotel, Parkroyal on Pickering did not disappoint. It was truly an urban oasis and the impressive eco stats really did impress. I might also add the architectural form & detail of this building also rated high on our list!
ECO FACTS
2m2 of lush greenery for every 1m2 of their total land area (WOW right?)
Water usage is minimised by rain harvesting
70% savings on hot water generation
32.5 Olympic-sized pools saved through water conservation annually
Luxurious, great location, green, lush, family friendly & eco to the max! Do you need me to say much more?
I didn't think so!
